Do you have favorite Bible Verses on Thankfulness? Have you heard the saying, A Grateful Heart is a Thankful heart? I believe, at the core of our happiness is having a thankful mindset and way of living.
As with all of life’s ups and downs, we can often times be left focusing on the hard times in life. The negative. The black hole. Playing victim. Focusing on all the negative around us has a tendency to bring us down and keep us in a dark place.
Bible Verses on Thankfulness
Your word I have hidden in my heart,Psalms 119:11
That I might not sin against You.
I deeply believe, if we keep God’s Word alive in our everyday lives, by reading the Bible everyday and applying it to our lives, we can withstand any storm with a thankful heart. That doesn’t mean the storm won’t come, it just means we are less likely to loose ourselves in the storms.
In the midst of trial or discipline, I keep jumping up from the Father’s feet, scurrying away from the place of discomfort in an attempt to find my own way to peace and joy and rest, thinking that I’ve learned my lesson. But my Father God knows the hard work isn’t finished. He knows the lessons I still need to learn, so He patiently calls to me. And when I don’t listen, He leads me back to this place of physical and emotional trial to resume the lesson because it’s what is best for me, even if I can’t see it in this moment. He does this for me because He’s my Heavenly Father, perfectly loving and perfectly knowledgeable.Being Confident of This: 30 Days to Discovering Your Identity in Christ
in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.1 Thessalonians 5:18
In all things give thanks. That can be a tall order to fill at times. The pain of walking through the different storms can be overwhelming and I’m expected to have a heart of thankfulness as the waves unyieldingly crash over me? Threatening to pull me under.
Now this verse does not say we must “be” thankful for all things, but it encourages us to have a heart of being thankful “in” all things. There is a difference. Big difference.
The only way I know how to offer Christ a thankful heart in all circumstances is to stay at His feet, stay in His Word and allow Him to change me while He holds me close.
This is my challenge to you and myself today. A thankful heart. Working on being thankful in all things.
