God’s grace. There’s a small river behind my church. To get down to the small swimming area where you can step into the cool water, you have to walk through a rough, dirty section. I forgot my water shoes today. So barefoot I went and my feet did not like it one bit. It hurt the tender bottoms of my naked feet and I was the last one to get over to the swimming area.
But I did make it. I set down my load and leaped right into the river. Deep in the water, I rubbed my hurting feet. Wiping off the dirt, grass, and little pebbles.
I’d do it again. Although I hope I don’t have to, I’d walk through that rocky yucky area to get to the river.
The cool, clean water on a hot Tennessee day is totally worth it!
It’s the same with Jesus. He calls us to walk through hard life trials sometimes. The reward?
Trusting Him that it’s better on the other side.
Knowing that there is hope and peace that can be found in Him. The One that calls us through the painful seasons.
As I focus my heart on Jesus, our Prince of Peace, I allow Him to fill me with a peace and hope. And He purifies my faith and my character. Ultimately, restoring me into the woman that He original created me to be.
My favorite spot in the river is the deepest part, where I can be fully in the depths of the water, swimming, or just trusting the river to float me down stream. Gently.
All in. With Jesus. And even through the worst trials I’ve been having to walk through, I choose Jesus and to be deep in Him.
God’s Grace Bible Verses
“These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” 1 Peter 1:7
“because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”James 1:3

Do you know where true Joy comes from?
Remember, even though God didn’t make our life easier, we still trust in Him.
I have faith, even when I don’t feel faith. Faith is a decision to trust that God has good plans for all this mess in the end. And He will receive the glory.
So barefoot I walk, through the yuck and painful rocks, to get to the river. In the river, we are refreshed and renewed.
You’ll find me in the river.
